Sexual Health Advisors Association of Ireland
Background
The Sexual Health Advisors (SHA) Network was established by sexual health advisors working in Ireland, to provide a coordinated structure to enhance best practice and provide a mechanism for collaboration between those working as dedicated SHAs or with a sexual health and/or advisory role in Ireland. The Sexual Health Advisors (SHA) Network will conduct itself in line with the following terms of reference:
Purpose
The purpose of the SHA Network is to:
- enhance professional support and development
- ensure quality service delivery through sharing of updated policies, procedures and best practice
- provide a support network for those working within a sexual health or health advisor remit, to share best practice and experiences
- input into any development of national standards or clinical practice guidance that involves the SHA roll.
Membership
Core steering group
The core steering group will comprise of:
- nurses (or other health care professionals) working in a dedicated SHA capacity
SHA network
The broader SHA network will comprise of nurses (or other health care professionals) with a sexual health or sexual health advisor brief, including the following services:
- public STI/HIV services (not in a dedicated SHA role)
- student health services
- primary care
- addiction, homeless and prison services
- NGO’s and outreach
